Order Management: Packing An Order

There is no standard for packing orders so every seller will do it differently. New and Used pieces should be packed separately. I don’t put every lot in an individual bag. I don’t put all the pieces in the same bag. I try to use the least amount of bags. Even if a buyer tells me to put it all in the same bag, I still separate New and Used.

I use various sizes of bags. I have smaller than this and larger. What ones I use depends on the size of the order and the size of the pieces. I used zip bags in the past but now use cellophane bags with an adhesive strip to seal it shut. I am trying to use more environmental materials. Cellophane is compostable so I try to use these over little zip bags.

I will pack the smaller bags into a larger bag. Sometimes the bags will open during shipment. This will help keep the pieces from roaming around and falling out in case something happens to the bubble mailer.

The larger pieces I will pack into larger bags. These ones I don’t usually put into a larger bag. I do use zip bags for the larger pieces or to pack the smaller bags. The compostable larger bags aren't close to be affordable yet

I take the bags and wrap it before I put it in a bubble mailer. I will use bubble wrap but I do have a stretch packing paper that I used now. Wrapping all the pieces keeps the pieces from moving around and getting scratched in shipment. I put these bundles into a bubble mailer.

I use new and used packaging. Anytime I can reuse a bag or a box I will. I use mostly bubble mailers to ship orders in. For larger orders or ones with fragile pieces I use boxes. The boxes usually have a smile on them but I turn them inside out. Trying to be environmentally friendly and balancing costs is the biggest obstacle. There are compostable bubble mailers but are very expensive. I hope the costs will come down in the future.
